De Texaanse zanger/gitarist Jesse Dayton vond dat het tijd werd voor een hardcore country cd. Het resultaat is One For The Dance Halls en is in elk opzicht meesterlijk. Liedjes over drank, vrouwen, liefde, vreemdgaan en scheiden. Waarschijnlijk is er na Buck Owens in de jaren zestig niet meer zo’n cd gemaakt. Voor bruiloften en partijen, maar ook om liederlijk dronken bij te worden en te verdrinken in je eigen tranen. Wie in Austin, Texas is, moet vooral niet vergeten op donderdagavond de danszaal The Broken Spoke te bezoeken en Dayton en zijn band te zien. Voor alle anderen is er One For The Dance Halls.
Ernest Tubb & The Texas Troubadors, Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, Willie Nelson & The Family Band, George Strait and the Ace In The Hole Band, have all played regular shows at the legendary dance hall, the Broken Spoke in Austin, TX, which is what Jesse Dayton has been doing for years. Leading his band every Thursday night to a packed crowd and keeping the dance floor full. Such was the inspiration for Jesse‟s latest release, “One For The Dance Halls.”
