GospelbeacH :: Another Winter Alive

Daar bereikt hun Grateful Dead ontmoet Crosby, Stills & Nash-aanpak grote hoogtes. Maar ook de rest mag er zijn. Another Winter Alive is een tussendoortje van hoog niveau.

Returning with their latest missive, California’s GospelbeacH reflects on the Golden State’s sundrenched rock and roll dream on their new album ‘Another Winter Alive’. The band’s prestigious collective resume includes members of Beachwood Sparks, The Tyde, Further, Ryan Adams and Cardinals, Everest, and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood – dispelling any notions of supergroup self-indulgence or side-project slumming – GospelbeacH’s warm, upbeat songcraft sounds invitingly low-key and truly collaborative.

‘Another Winter Alive’ features five previously unreleased songs from the ‘Another Summer Of Love’ sessions, as well as five live songs recorded in London during their ‘California Fantasy’ tour. GospelbeacH also pays homage to friend and founding member Neal Casal on the album’s opener covering his most well-known song “Freeway To The Canyon”. Replete with cascading piano melodies and pedal steel guitars, the gorgeous cosmic country hue of the record’s first single “Down South” is a perfect gateway to the band’s marked sense of harmony and melodic hooks. The album’s second half features stripped down versions of songs from GospelbeacH’s debut ‘Pacific Surf Line’ further highlighting their stylistic range and uncanny, instinctive live chemistry.
